Voting

We have had a lot of fun talking about elections and voting. We have read books and listed character traits that would be important for a president to have.  We all created "Vote for me" posters in the hall. Joseph and his mom gave us an opportunity to vote for our favorite kind of muffin, banana or blueberry.  They even sent in a ballot box.  Ask your child about this.  Today we campaigned for a class president, Bubbles or Oceans.  We made posters to hang around the room and will have an election tomorrow.

Open House

Hello Families!  We have been working on mapping in first grade.  I would like to complete this study with making a map of East Montpelier to include our houses. Please let me know by Wednesday if you do not want us to put your house on the map for all to see.  We will not give specific house numbers, just street names.  Thanks!!

Today

We played games at adventure play.  We had a special snack for Jackson's birthday.  We did handwriting and play dough and math games and puzzles.  It was fun in first grade.

Reading Celebration

We earned a reading celebration because we read quietly for 15 minutes!  We went outside to read with friends and by ourselves. We read Superkids.  We love reading and school!

First Grade Message

Some of us bought popcorn for the fundraiser to buy books for children in Louisiana.  However, the 3rd grade ran out, so we didn't all get popcorn.  Maybe next time!  We thought of a new cheer.  It is, "Adventure play is awesome!"  We love handwriting.

Fun At School

We practiced for our hike at PE.  We learned about poison ivy at PE.  Today we played touch 6 and red light green light in Adventure Play.  We had fun at the end of the day recess.

Please remember to leave all toys at home.  It makes it hard to learn in 1st grade when our toys are there.  Also we have ECO tomorrow afternoon!  Dress for the weather.

First grade is fun.  We played red clover today.  Some of us worked with play dough.  Adventure play was awesome.  We learned lots of things at school.

Today's First Grade Message

It was raining during recess.  Then it stopped and we went back out.  It is Hazel's birthday.  Some of us played soccer.  In Adventure play we played hikers and dolphins.  We played "red clover".  All the kids love first grade!  First grade is the best!!!!
